This is just gorgeous, Len. Keep them coming. Can't wait to see more of your work.

Artist's Description

Mature prickly pear cactus buds break generally near dawn, open to full bloom, and then close once they are in afternoon shadow. Each flower blooms only one day and then withers away.

I imagined flowers capturing sunlight during the day, staying open at night, glowing and illuminating nearby unopened buds waiting for their day in the sun.

A personal favorite and an award winner.

About Len Romanick

Len Romanick

Located in central New Jersey, I shoot under the moniker LensAfield, specializing in macro (close-up) imagery of the natural world around us that we generally don't pay attention to, don't see, or are not aware. I like to find and photograph interesting and difficult subjects that are technically and artistically challenging and maintain an active "bucket list" of shots I would like to capture as I contemplate future shooting opportunities.
